Celebrities We Would Cast to Be in a Biopic of the NFL Playoff Quarterback’s Lives
With the NFL playoffs well underway, we are wondering, “Who would be the best actor to play these quarterbacks in a movie about themselves?” Amazing careers like these guys deserve a film made about their lives, so let’s take a look at some of the best options for these lead roles!
Ryan Gosling as Jared Goff
The Pick
Sharing a striking resemblance to one another, Ryan Gosling is the perfect pick to play Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff. Showing his romantic side in films like The Notebook and his athleticism and musicality in La La Land, Ryan is 'Kenough' to star as “chill guy” Jared Goff!
The Plot
Born in Novato, California, Jared actually grew up a 49ers fan and wears the number 16 in honor of Joe Montana! He spent his college career at the University of California, Berkeley, where he was a three-year starter and broke almost every passing record. In 2016, he was selected by the Los Angeles Rams as the number one overall draft pick—look at him go! Just two years later, he led his team to Super Bowl LIII in 2018, where they were defeated by the highly esteemed Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
Fast forward to January 2021, Jared Goff was handed over to the Lions in a trade for Matthew Stafford, and truthfully that trade worked out for the best! As Dan Campbell would say, “You’re good enough for Detroit, Jared!”
Shemar Moore as Jalen Hurts
The Pick
Who better to play the very handsome Jalen Hurts than our favorite crime-fighting hottie, Shemar Moore? Shemar starred in the very binge-worthy Criminal Minds and stole all of our hearts with his wit and good looks. If you ask me, both men share the same dashing smile!
The Plot
Jalen Hurts, born in Houston, Texas, is the starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. He attended the University of Alabama where he played from 2016 to 2018. Let's take a moment to appreciate how many NFL players Bama has brought us! Hurts then played his senior season at Oklahoma where he replaced Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray.
At Oklahoma, Jalen went on to be a Heisman Trophy finalist and has now made himself a household name thanks to his amazing talent in Philly!
Eric André as Patrick Mahomes
The Pick
Sharing some close resemblance, comedian Eric André looks like he could play a 3-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes! Having a large personality and lots of success in his field, his accomplishments mirror those of Patrick and the unbeatable Kansas City Chiefs.
The Plot
Another player born in the great state of Texas, Patrick Mahomes grew up in Tyler, Texas with a birthright in the professional sports world! Patrick’s father, Pat Mahomes pitched for 11 years in Major League Baseball—mostly for the Minnesota Twins from 1992-1996. Other notable teams Pat played for include the Boston Red Sox, Texas Rangers, New York Mets, Chicago Cubs, and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Talk about achievements!
While in high school, Patrick played football, baseball, and basketball, eventually choosing Texas Tech to continue his football career. Drafted in 2017 by the Kansas City Chiefs, it is safe to say Patrick is making a name for himself… maybe GOAT?
Fun fact: Mahomes was actually selected in the 2014 MLB draft by the Detroit Tigers but chose to continue a football career instead!
Michael B. Jordan as Jayden Daniels
The Pick
Michael B. Jordan knows what it is like to play a rookie athlete; that’s why he is our pick to play the very charming Jayden Daniels! Already playing an incredible boxer in the Creed movies, Michael has shown he has the same agility and stamina that Jayden shows every time he steps onto the field. Who wouldn’t want this stud to play them in a movie?
The Plot
Growing up in San Bernardino, California, Jayden Daniels is another success story from Louisiana State University—just like fan favorite Joe Burrow! In his freshman year of high school, Jayden needed a waiver to play varsity football because he was only 14 at the time. A pediatrician who first signed the waiver feared he would get hurt due to his small demeanor; well, look at him now!
After he transferred from Arizona State, Daniels had an extremely successful career at LSU, where he scored 50 touchdowns in the 2023 season—40 passing and 10 rushing. He then went on to win the Heisman Trophy that same year, beating out Bo Nix and Marvin Harrison Jr. This win made him the third player from Louisiana State to hold the trophy, and we couldn’t be prouder! Jayden made his NFL debut in a Commanders game against Tampa Bay in Week 1, where he rushed for two touchdowns. Now this rookie has led his team to the divisional round of the playoffs for the first time since 2005. Everyone has to appreciate a rookie success story!
Matthew McConaughey as Matthew Stafford
The Pick
Alright, alright, alright! 2000’s heartthrob Matthew McConaughey is our top pick to play lovable Matthew Stafford. A “girl dad” just like Stafford, McConaughey’s adoring relationship with his wife Camila reminds us a lot of the QB's relationship with his wife Kelly. Maybe we could get Kate Hudson featured to play Kelly Stafford. Then we would have a How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days reunion!
The Plot
Florida native Matthew Stafford has had quite the career in the league. Getting his collegiate start at the University of Georgia, Stafford decided to forego his senior season and was the first overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. He was selected by the Detroit Lions following their 0-16 season in 2008, and definitely made his mark on the city. Matthew spent 12 seasons in Detroit, playing from 2009-2020 with the remarkable wide receiver Calvin Johnson, famously known as “Megatron.” In 2011, he had a breakout season, becoming the fourth quarterback in NFL history to throw for more than 5,000 yards in a single season!
In 2021, Stafford and the Lions mutually agreed to part ways, and he was traded to the Los Angeles Rams in a deal for Jared Goff. In his first season with the Rams, he led the team to his first-ever Super Bowl win, and everyone back in Detroit was proud of him! It looks like the deal for the two quarterbacks really turned out well, and the Stafford family seems to be thriving in California!
Chris Pratt as Josh Allen
The Pick
Superhero Chris Pratt is the best pick to play larger-than-life Josh Allen! Having played a hero in films like Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World, Chris would do a fantastic job playing this hero of New York. They kind of look alike, don’t you see it?
The Plot
Playing for the University of Wyoming from 2015-2017, Josh Allen has quickly become a favorite in the NFL. Standing at a staggering 6’5”, Allen knows how to rule a football field! Josh was born in Firebaugh, California, and started his collegiate career at Reedley Community College, where he led the team in both passing and rushing yards and threw a total of 36 touchdowns! He transferred to Wyoming the following year where he played until the 2018 NFL Draft. He was the number seven overall pick, selected by the Buffalo Bills, and has been thriving since then!
Josh Allen is now engaged to singer and actress Hailee Steinfeld, and the two have a very loving relationship. Allen is in the running for this season's MVP, and we think he has a pretty good chance!
Samuel L. Jackson as Lamar Jackson
The Pick
Another super pick for this super quarterback, Samuel L. Jackson is our pick to play Baltimore Ravens superstar Lamar Jackson! Showing his strong leadership in the Avengers franchise, Samuel L. Jackson has the control, strength, and integrity to play such a phenomenal quarterback like Lamar!
The Plot
Lamar Jackson was born in Pompano Beach, Florida, and didn’t start a high school football career until his junior year. In those two years, Jackson put his stamp on high school football and had some pretty crazy statistics! Going on to play in college for the University of Louisville, Lamar won the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award in 2016—as a sophomore! That same year, he also won the Heisman Trophy.
As the final first-round pick of the 2018 NFL Draft, Jackson was selected by the Baltimore Ravens. Since then, Lamar has gone on to be the recipient of two MVP awards and currently holds the spot as the all-time leader in rushing yards by a quarterback. This man is quick on his feet! Seen as one of the greatest quarterbacks of this generation, Lamar Jackson is a major threat to all opponents, not only in passing but in rushing as well. We can’t wait to see where his career takes him!
John Legend as CJ Stroud
The Pick
The kindness and good-heartedness of singer John Legend make him a great choice to play Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud. As another similar-looking pair, we think John has what it takes to play this up-and-coming quarterback, with all the grace and integrity he carries himself with in the music industry!
The Plot
The youngest of four children, CJ Stroud was born in California, yet another star quarterback from the Golden State. In high school, Stroud became Offensive Player of the Year his senior year after he passed for nearly 4,000 yards and threw 47 touchdowns. Playing for Ohio State University, CJ broke numerous records at the university, including having the most passing yards in a single game—a huge 573 yards!
In 2021 and 2022, Stroud was a Heisman Trophy finalist and was then selected second overall by the Houston Texans in the 2023 NFL Draft. In his rookie season with Houston, CJ threw his 177th pass attempt without an interception, breaking the previous record held by Dak Prescott. Later that season, he led his team to a divisional title and earned himself the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. Taking the football world by storm, CJ Stroud is a quarterback to watch out for!
