New Kids on the Block: Four NFL Rookies to Watch
Our favorite season of the year is finally upon us: football season. As the first three weeks of the NFL have come and gone, the games have been filled with memorable moments that have kept us at the edge of our seats. Whether it's from trying to spot Taylor in the stands or anxiously watching the Rams make an incredible comeback, there hasn't been a shortage of entertaining times in the league.
Another exciting aspect that is undoubtedly fun to watch each year is getting to know the season's rookie class, a roster of incredible athletes eager to bring their A-game and become essential members of their teams.
Since we're already familiar with the Mahomes, the Hurts, and the Kittles of it all, we have gathered some of the newest members of the league as an introduction to familiarize you with the league's debutants.
Caleb Williams, Quarterback of the Chicago Bears
We'll start from the beginning. Or rather, with the number one pick of this year: USC's Caleb Williams. The Oklahoma native had an incredible run while leading the Trojans, breaking an astounding number of USC records in the process. As the 2022 Heisman Trophy recipient, Caleb was inevitably set to be the first pick of the 2024 Draft.
Now, as the first rookie quarterback to throw a touchdown this year, he is ready to show up and show out, not only as a player but also as a style icon. Aside from his incredible passing efficiency, Caleb is also known for his trendsetting manicures, which are a tribute to his mom."My mom does nails. Let's just start it off there. She's done it my whole life. It's just kind of always been around me. Nobody else does it. I just kinda like to do new things."
Malik Nabers, Wide Receiver of the New York Giants
Malik has taken the NFL by storm, breaking a record in just three games and proving the Giants made the right choice by picking the LSU alumni in the first round.
As the all-time leader in receiving yards for the Tigers, Malik's exceptional talent has him on track to become one of the NFL's top wide receivers. In a recent game against the Browns, his standout performance, including an incredible mid-air catch in the end zone, played a crucial role in the Giants' victory. With two touchdowns and six receptions, Malik secured his place in NFL history as the first player to achieve 20+ receptions, 250+ receiving yards, and 3+ receiving touchdowns in his first three career games."
Xavier Worthy, Wide Receiver of the Kansas City Chiefs
There's a new guy on the Chiefs, and it's former Texas Longhorn's Xavier Worthy. As Kansas' first-round pick, Xavier has already proved to be the perfect asset to complete the current reigning squad by scoring two touchdowns in his first game. With speed as his biggest weapon (he broke the NFL Scouting Combine's 40-yard dash record with a time of 4.21 seconds), it's just a matter of time before he cements his position as one of Pat Mahomes' greatest allies.
Xavier's presence on the squad will be exciting to follow. His speed and ability make him shine on the field, and his pre-game fits are equally impressive, quickly proving to be a fashionable display of style.
Bo Nix, Quarterback of the Denver Broncos
Denver selected the Arkansas local as their first-round pick after struggling with Russell Wilson in previous seasons. With a huge responsibility bestowed upon him, Bo has slowly but surely risen to the occasion. He has made up for his lack of touchdown passes by rushing himself to the end zone last Sunday, putting the Broncos on the way to their first victory of the season.
With 216 passing yards and zero interceptions, the former Auburn frontman has maintained a confident pace that will hopefully prove to be successful in the upcoming weeks. Even though the Broncos lost their first two games, they have only done so by a minimal difference of one possession, which shows Bo is progressively finding his way around the team and becoming the piece the Broncos' puzzle needed.
