Skiing legend Lindsey Vonn has revealed she is making an extraordinary comeback to competitive alpine skiing at the age of 40. Five years after retiring from the sport, Vonn has undergone knee surgery and is already back in training with the US Ski Team.

She retired as the most decorated female skier of all time, with 3 Olympic medals and 82 World Cup victories. Her first World Cup win came twenty years ago, marking the beginning of her legacy that inspired countless fans worldwide. However, her career was cut short by knee injuries, forcing her to stop in 2019. Now, after undergoing multiple surgeries and restoring her health, Vonn is ready to compete again.

With the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina on the horizon, she appears determined to secure a spot on Team USA and add another chapter to what has already been a historic career. Her announcement has reignited excitement among the skiing world and its fans, eager to see the return of one of the sport’s greatest athletes.

“Getting back to skiing without pain has been an incredible journey. I am looking forward to being back with the Stifel U.S. Ski Team and to continue to share my knowledge of the sport with these incredible women.”  - Lindsey Vonn

Beyond her skiing achievements, Vonn has also been a prominent public figure. Her high-profile relationship with golfer Tiger Woods from 2013 to 2015 brought her further into the spotlight, though her athletic feats have always remained at the forefront. She has also invested in NWSL teams Angel City FC and Utah Royals FC, showing her commitment to advancing women’s sports.

It sounds like she is viewing next month’s World Cup in Beaver Creek, Colorado, as her first competitive appearance. As she sets her sights on another journey, Vonn’s comeback promises to be an inspiring story in sports.
