After withdrawing in Tokyo, all eyes were set on Simone Biles as she returned to the Olympic stage. Pressure was higher than ever with endless expectations from everyone. Not only did Simone help her team win gold in the all-around, she reclaimed her place at the top of the podium in the individual all-around competition. Simone also won gold in the vault final after landing the Biles II, dubbed “the hardest vault trick in the world.” Her week wrapped up with a silver on the floor, making her the most decorated Olympic gymnast ever!

Ilona Maher: The *It* Girl of the Games

Ilona Maher became the talk of the games after her amazing, hilarious, and impactful TikTok went viral. However, she won the hearts of us all with her candidness about body positivity, being yourself, and reminding us all that life is truly what you make it. Ilona made history with the US women’s rugby team, as they won a Bronze medal in the rugby 7’s tournament. Maher left Paris with more than just a medal - she left a legacy. She befriended football’s first family, Jason and Kylie Kelce, and appointed Jason to be the team's newest hype man. Since her tournament ended, Ilona has been serving gold medal content on all social media platforms. The games may be over, but this is just the start for Ilona!

USWNT: Golden Again

It has been a whopping 12 years since the USWNT snagged Olympic gold, but honestly, it felt like a lifetime ago! However, the women of the USWNT reached gold status after a phenomenal tournament. Coach Emma Hayes led the women to victory after only nine weeks as the official head coach. Trinity Rodman, Sophia Smith, and Malory Swanson dominated on the front line, each scoring at least three points throughout the tournament. Naomi Girma was a brick wall on defense. Goalie Alyssa Naeher became the first USWNT goalie to have a shutout in an Olympic gold medal match and a World Cup final. For more details on their epic comeback, read this Sportsish article!

Katie Ledecky Swims into History

The flag bearer at the Closing Ceremony had an epic time in Paris. Not only did Katie Ledecky finish far ahead of her competitors in the 1500m freestyle while setting a new Olympic record, she also won the 800m freestyle for the fourth time in a row. Katie is now the most decorated female Olympic swimmer and joins Michael Phelps in the 4-peat club. She also won a silver and bronze medal, bringing her Olympic total to 14 medals. Katie is now taking a well-deserved break from training, but can’t imagine being away from the pool for “too long.” Looking ahead, Katie hopes to return to LA in 2028 to make history again!

Snoop’s Sidequests

During his time in Paris, Snoop Dogg proved that gold medal moments happen off the podium too. Snoop attended as many events as possible, proudly cheering on Team USA everywhere. Snoop got into the pool for a private swim lesson from the GOAT, Michael Phelps. His best sidequest was bringing his BFF, Martha Stewart, to watch the equestrian dressage event. He dressed to the nines in traditional, riding gear, accompanied with apples and carrots for the horses. Snoop also returned to the commentating booth, creating arguably the greatest table tennis commentary ever. We must see Snoop in 2028!
